Summer in San Francisco - Part 2

Updated: Jan 6, 2021

Another day in San Francisco means more tourist attractions. Let's just say the agenda for this day was chilled (literally). Everything remotely aimed at foreigners, we did them. I must admit, it was an absolute thrill.

Nothing says romance more than a cable car

We started the day at a reasonable time (roughly 10AM), and so we decided to find breakfast. The downtown core is compact, but filled with spectacular buildings. Whoever is responsible for the creativity, I commend you.

Having lived in San Francisco for a while, my sister brought us to one of her favourite restaurants. It's a quaint little place, and the interior takes you on a nightly extravaganza. Filled with little quirks, it's not hard to see why sister loves it so much.

Once done, we were off to see everything you could in one day - but while saving our poor feet from yesterday's long journey. Before heading to our headed destination(s), we saw the rather newest member to the San Francisco area:

San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge

My father usually wants to sit down while looking at attractions. So it would be natural for us to take a ride on one of these bad boys. I never knew how popular these attractions were, until I saw about three of them lined up at once.

Our ride for the day

Ridden one before, and they are quite amusing. Usually packed with people and provided with free audio tours, the Big Bus Tours are a family favourite. It's a convenient way to get around town and learn something about places I never heard about.

We then stopped by the park, which contained an observatory, an outdoor stage, a Japanese garden, and even an art gallery. What's inside, I have yet to find out. However, the de Young Museum offered a lookout point which shows the landscape of San Francisco.

And what tour would be complete without going over the iconic symbol of the city: The Golden Gate Bridge. It was a clear day, so that simply meant endless amounts of the international orange masterpiece.

We then had a lunch break in a small town called Sausalito. There are a handful of shops, and the guide advised to try one of his favourite fish and chips place. Since everyone listened to his advice, the place filled with tourists, making it difficult to set up shop. Fortunately, a small table just outside the place was all that we needed.

Then we walked around town, and took the opportunity for photos. In addition to the day, there were night tours that we wanted to see. So to take the time, there were coupons from the Bus company. One of them was free admission at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Not knowing what to expect, we went in and took even more photos.

Soon enough, we made our way to the night tour, which was also crowded - a lot of people like these things. Since we were crazy enough to sit on the upper deck, we saw the winds and clouds rushing into San Francisco. Passing by studios and bridges (once again), this nonstop ride was a bit difficult to take scenes of what we saw earlier. But a little wind doesn't prevent one from taking chances.

After venturing all of San Francisco with minimal walking, we decided to eat close to the hotel. My mother and sister both wanted noodles, and so we tried this ramen shop. Like all good ramen restaurants, we had to put our name on the list and wait until a table was free. It took about 15 minutes, but were relieved just to sit down and be warm.

Even though we looked around all the city had to offer, it still felt tiring. Who knew that even riding a bus could be exhausting itself. Day two was complete, and couldn't wait for the next day.
